We were also fortunate to build on the learning from other communities that have conducted PiT Counts in Canada. In particular, we drew on the work done by the Government of BC, Housing & Urban Development (US), the City of Toronto, Homeward Trust Edmonton and the Calgary Homeless Foundation.

The Alberta 7 Cities on Housing and Homelessness piloted many of the methods proposed in this Toolkit, during their first provincial Point-in-Time Homeless Count in October 2014. This provided us with a unique opportunity to test the methods in practice and revise them based on key learnings. We thank both the 7 Cities group, as well as the Alberta PiT Working Committee that did the heavy lifting in community.
