Cell phone technology has become readily available in America through governmental programs and due to cost-effective cell phone plans. After building a definition for the homeless who reside in American using multi-discipline contributions research qualitatively investigated how individuals in the homeless community are actively using cell phones to navigate their daily lives, network, and potential uses of cell phones as mediated-communication for homeless servicing organizations. This research revealed that the homeless are not only using their phones to network, but they also are also interfacing with cell phone technology to deal with emotions such as loneliness and to maintain privacy as they are able to obtain information, on various topics from health to lawful rights, without interpersonal interaction.
