The Center for Evidence-based Solutions to Homelessness is a new resource to help prevent and end homelessness. Their experts offer insights informed by research to assist communities as they plan and provide homelessness services.

Abt Associates and the National Alliance to End Homelessness have partnered on a key feature of the Center’s work, documenting the evidence base on homelessness. With the launch of the Center’s website, they provide syntheses of the research evidence on four topics:

• Trends and patterns of homelessness, led by Center expert Alvaro Cortes
• Children and family homelessness, led by Center expert Michelle Wood
• Rental housing subsidies and homelessness, led by Center expert and founding director Jill Khadduri
• Veteran homelessness, led by Center expert Tom Albanese of the Columbus, OH Community Resource Board

Comprised of a team of leading experts in homelessness and related issues, the Center also includes Dennis Culhane of the University of Pennsylvania, Marybeth Shinn of Vanderbilt University, Dana Hunt of Abt Associates, and Alisa Santucci of Abt Associates. They are working to compile the best evidence of what works to address chronic homelessness, homelessness prevention, criminal justice reentry, and youth homelessness, and research briefs on these topics will be added to this website over the next few months. Briefs by other Center experts will follow, with the objective of making the Center a resource that connects research to practice on all aspects of homelessness.

The Center also houses the Systems Strengthening Partnership, a national community of practice working to develop new approaches and best practices for planning, governance, and management of services for people experiencing homelessness.
